Rochon was born and raised in Torrance. She was the daughter of Zelma Staples (a nurse practitioner) and Samuel Staples (a businessman and graphic artist). She is a 1982 graduate from Cerritos High School, located in Cerritos, California. Rochon graduated with a degree in broadcasting journalism at California State University Dominguez Heights (CSUDH) in 1986. Her majors were sociology, theatre, and theatre. In the initial two seasons on Sanctuary the actress appeared as Ashley Magnus until the character was eliminated. Her departure remained a topic of debate between fans, with many of them wanting her brought back in future episodes, until the show was canceled in the year 2012. Ullerup appeared as Bree O'Brien, in Chesapeake Shores. Ullerup portrayed Maggie Thomas in Asteroid: Final Impact, the movie which was about the catastrophe of 2015. Ullerup is a regular in the role of Dale Travers, in the Hallmark Signed, Sealed, Delivered series of films, which began in 2016.
